Company History
The joining of Goodwin Service Company and the J.L. Tucker Company in 1990 brings together two of the most respected and trusted commercial cooking equipment service companies in the midwest. With a history of service dating back to 1932, the combined companies now offer better service, a larger parts inventory and more in-depth knowledge of this highly specialized service industry.
Goodwin Service Company started business in Des Moines on August 1, 1970 with just one service technician. In November of that year, another technician, and a third employee, was added to the company, working part-time in accounting and payroll.
In April of 1986 the company opened an office in Waterloo, Iowa. The office now has three service technicians and two office people. Ten years ago, in September of 1990, the company purchased JL Tucker Company in Omaha. In July of the following year, an office in Lincoln was opened. It has four technicians and 2 office people. In 1993, with four locations operating, the name of the company was changed to the current name of Goodwin Tucker Group. In 2002 Goodwin Tucker Group opened 3 new operations in Iowa, including: Dubuque, Cedar Rapids on the east side, and Sioux City on the Northwestern Corner of Iowa. As of May of 2003 Goodwin Tucker Group grew once more and added another branch in Mason City Iowa.
The company that Tom started 30 years ago continues to grow and improve. In June 2000, the Omaha office moved from its downtown location at 815 North 19th Street to a larger building at 7535 “D” Street. Des Moines moved its offices in early November of 2000, from 3509 Delaware Ave to 2900 Delaware Ave. The new building is located approximately five block's south of the previous location at Delaware Ave. & Euclid. This large building is approximately 30,000 square feet and will provide plenty of room for the company to continue to grow.
